☀️ Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS02T – Sunset Burst – P90s – Deluxe Gig Bag ☀️

A superb example of Yamaha’s current-generation Revstar Standard RSS02T, finished in the gorgeous Sunset Burst and fitted with a pair of Yamaha VP5 Alnico V P90 pickups.

This guitar was bought brand new only around six months ago and has seen very little use since. It remains in excellent, near-new condition and presents beautifully.

The Sunset Burst finish really suits the Revstar shape, graduating from a warm amber through to the deep red/burgundy outer edge, with cream P90 covers, cream binding and that distinctive chrome racing tailpiece finishing it off beautifully.

At 7lb 13oz, it’s also a very comfortable weight.

Condition

This one is about as clean as you could reasonably expect from a lightly used guitar.

There may be some very minor handling and play marks, including light pick marks, together with a small amount of light tarnishing to some of the hardware. Nothing we would consider significant and certainly nothing that detracts from the overall appearance.

There are no notable knocks, chips or areas of damage that we can see.

The frets are excellent, the neck is clean and it plays exactly as a good Revstar should.

The Revstar Standard

The Standard sits in a particularly sweet spot within Yamaha’s Revstar range, combining some genuinely impressive construction and hardware with a price that remains well below many comparable guitars.

The chambered mahogany body is topped with maple, helping reduce weight while adding resonance and clarity. The set three-piece mahogany neck is reinforced with carbon for additional stability and finished in satin for a fast, comfortable feel.

The rosewood fingerboard carries 22 jumbo stainless steel frets, meaning fret wear is far less of a concern than with conventional nickel frets.

Yamaha VP5 Alnico V P90 Pickups

The RSS02T uses a pair of Yamaha’s VP5 Alnico V P90s.

They offer that familiar P90 combination of clarity, bite and dynamics, but with considerably more body and output than a conventional Strat or Tele-style single coil.

Clean, they’re articulate and responsive. Push an amp harder and they produce a thick, aggressive midrange that works brilliantly for blues, alternative, classic rock and heavier material.

A five-way selector expands the available sounds beyond a traditional two-P90 setup, while the push/pull Focus Switch provides a passive boost-style effect designed to give the pickups a thicker, more powerful character.

It makes the RSS02T far more versatile than its fairly simple control layout might suggest.
