One of the modern Fender range’s most successful guitars, this 2018 Player Stratocaster pairs the classic SSS Strat formula with the upgrades that made the Player Series such a strong replacement for the long-running Mexican Standard range.

 

Finished in Buttercream with a maple neck and fingerboard, it’s a particularly good-looking example. The combination of the warm vintage-inspired finish, parchment plastics and maple board gives it a timeless Strat appearance without straying into outright vintage reissue territory.

 

At its heart are three Player Series Alnico 5 single-coil pickups, delivering everything you want from a Strat. The bridge is bright and articulate, the neck has that unmistakable rounded Strat warmth, while positions two and four bring the glassy, hollow tones these guitars are famous for. From blues and funk through to indie, pop and classic rock, it’s an incredibly versatile setup.

 

The Modern “C” maple neck is comfortable and immediately familiar, paired with a 9.5” radius and 22 medium jumbo frets for a noticeably more contemporary playing feel than a vintage-spec Strat. Fender’s two-point synchronised tremolo with bent steel saddles completes the package.

 

A lovely, cherished example of the Mexican-made Player Series and a great all-round Strat in one of Fender’s most distinctive finishes.
