🌟 2022 Fender FSR Player Stratocaster – Black – Custom Shop Fat ’50s 🌟

A very interesting Fender Special Run and one you don’t see particularly often.

 

This 2022 Fender Player Stratocaster FSR was part of a limited special-run series that took the familiar Mexican-built Player Strat platform and upgraded it from the factory with a set of Fender Custom Shop Fat ’50s single-coil pickups.

 

That pickup set is really the headline here. Rather than the standard Player Series pickups, Fender fitted this run with the much more premium Custom Shop Fat ’50s Strat set, designed to deliver that classic ’50s-style Strat sound with clear highs, a fuller low end and plenty of traditional Fender character. This wasn’t an aftermarket modification. It was part of the original factory specification for this FSR model.

 

Finished in Gloss Black with a maple neck and fingerboard, it has a beautifully simple look, especially in its current all-black configuration.

 

The familiar Player Series specification gives you a comfortable modern Fender feel, with a 25.5” scale length, 9.5” fingerboard radius, 22 frets and two-point tremolo, making it a very easy Strat to live with whether you’re playing rhythm, lead or using the trem regularly.

 

Pickguard

 

The guitar is currently fitted with a plain black replacement pickguard, which gives it a really clean black-on-black appearance.

 

The replacement guard is not quite a perfect fit and has lifted slightly in a few areas, which we have tried to show clearly in the photographs. There are also surface scratches and general marks to the guard itself.

 

Importantly, the original factory pickguard is included, so the next owner can easily return the guitar to its original appearance if preferred.

Condition

 

Overall this is a very attractive used example.

 

The gloss black finish shows the usual light surface scratches, polishing marks and minor playwear you would expect from a played black guitar, particularly when viewed under strong light. There are no major structural issues that we can see.

 

The replacement pickguard has some visible surface marking and, as mentioned above, does not sit completely flush in a few places.

 

As with any used instrument, there may be small cosmetic marks that are difficult to capture in photographs, so please study the images carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.

 

At £599, this is a lot of Strat for the money, especially with the factory Custom Shop Fat ’50s pickups and the more unusual FSR specification.
