The Yamaha BB series has been a fixture of the bass world for decades, and the BB234 brings that unmistakable Yamaha formula into an affordable, incredibly usable instrument. Simple, solid and versatile, this is a bass designed to cover a huge amount of ground without unnecessary complication.

 

Finished in Vintage White with a contrasting black pickguard, it has the classic BB look, while the alder body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard give it a familiar, comfortable feel.

 

The pickup arrangement combines Yamaha’s VSP3n split single-coil at the neck with a VSC3b single-coil at the bridge. Both use ceramic magnets, with individual volume controls allowing the two pickups to be blended to taste. Roll towards the neck pickup for a fuller, rounder bass sound, bring in the bridge for extra definition and bite, or combine the two for a balanced all-round tone.

 

Its 34” scale maple neck is paired with a 10” radius rosewood fingerboard and 21 medium frets, making the BB234 equally approachable for newer players and experienced bassists looking for a straightforward, dependable instrument.

Condition

 

Good used condition overall with the usual light play wear, handling marks and surface marks associated with normal use and storage.

 

There is one notable chip to the finish on the lower edge of the body, which has gone through the Vintage White finish and is clearly shown in the photographs. There are also some light marks immediately around this area. Aside from this, there are no other significant cosmetic issues to mention and the bass presents very well.
