A seriously cool modern take on one of Epiphone’s earliest original solid-body designs.

 

This 2024 Epiphone Crestwood Custom Tremotone is finished in Polaris White and has all the retro details that make these so distinctive, including the symmetrical double-cut body, oval fingerboard inlays, Epiphone PRO Mini Humbuckers and that brilliant Tremotone vibrato with the wooden Epiphone tailpiece insert.

 

It is in very good used condition overall, with some clear tarnishing and ageing to parts of the nickel hardware, plus a small ding to the front and the usual light play and handling marks.

 

The pickups themselves present well, and the guitar has been fitted with new strings and is playing very nicely.

 

At £369, this is a lot of character for the money.

 

A Proper Epiphone Original

 

The Crestwood is an important model in Epiphone history because it was one of the company’s first original solid-body electric designs.

 

Rather than simply following the Les Paul formula, the Crestwood has its own identity with a slim double-cutaway mahogany body, vintage-inspired appointments and a feel that sits somewhere between classic 50s design and something altogether more individual.

 

The Polaris White finish suits it brilliantly too, especially with the contrasting black headstock, white buttons and nickel hardware.

 

Epiphone PRO Mini Humbuckers

 

This model uses a pair of Epiphone PRO Mini Humbuckers, which are a big part of the Crestwood sound.

 

Compared with full-sized humbuckers, they have a little more clarity, definition and upper-end sparkle, while still retaining plenty of warmth and body.

 

They work especially well with the mahogany construction, giving you a sound that can cover everything from cleaner jangly tones through to driven rock and blues.

Tremotone Vibrato

 

One of the standout features here is the Tremotone vibrato system.

The bridge itself is a LockTone Tune-O-Matic, giving a familiar and stable base underneath the Tremotone system.

Condition

 

This guitar is in very good used condition overall.

 

There is some quite noticeable tarnishing and ageing to parts of the nickel hardware, particularly around the Tremotone and bridge area, all shown clearly in the photographs.

 

Importantly, the pickup covers themselves remain in much better condition.

 

There is also a small ding to the front of the body, plus some light surface marks, handling marks and minor signs of play.

 

Nothing here affects the structure, sound or playability of the guitar.

 

It has been fitted with new strings and is playing very well.
