Baton Rouge X11C/P-SCC Parlor 12 Acoustic Guitar – Screwed Charcoal Matt

 

The Baton Rouge X11C/P-SCC is a distinctive compact acoustic that combines a traditional Parlor 12 body with a much more contemporary look.

 

Finished in Screwed Charcoal Matt with an open-pore finish, it has loads of character without feeling overdone, while the slotted headstock gives it a lovely vintage-inspired feel.

 

At its heart is a solid Canadian cedar top, paired with mahogany back and sides. Cedar gives the guitar a warm, responsive character and works particularly well for fingerstyle, lighter strumming and players who want an acoustic that reacts easily to a softer touch.

 

The compact Parlor 12 body makes it extremely comfortable to play, while the slightly wider 46mm nut gives the strings a little more breathing room. That makes this a particularly appealing option for fingerstyle players, acoustic picking and anyone who prefers a roomier feel at the nut.

 

The mahogany neck is paired with an ovangkol fingerboard, while the matching ovangkol bridge uses a NuBone saddle. A NuBone nut, RW ABS binding, open antique chrome machine heads and the traditional slotted headstock complete a guitar that feels far more considered than its price point might suggest.

 

As with the other Baton Rouge instruments we’ve recently brought into Chordplay, the build quality is extremely impressive. These are guitars that are a little different from the usual choices and offer an awful lot of instrument for the money.
