🌟 PRS SE Singlecut Grey Black – 2006 Korean Model 🌟

 

This is a lovely early PRS SE Singlecut from 2006, finished in the increasingly hard-to-find Grey Black with a beautifully figured flame maple top.

 

These earlier Korean-built SE models have built a strong reputation over the years, and it isn’t difficult to see why. This one has that classic PRS Singlecut recipe of a mahogany body, maple top, set mahogany neck and twin humbuckers, giving it plenty of warmth and sustain while still retaining the clarity and bite you expect from a PRS.

 

Visually, it’s a stunner. The Grey Black finish has a deep smoky blue/charcoal appearance depending on the light, with the flame running right across the top. Add the natural maple edge, moon inlays and black headstock face and it has aged into a very classy looking guitar.

 

For a guitar now around 20 years old, the condition is exceptional.

 

There are some light scratches, surface marks and general signs of play across the body, particularly visible under strong lighting, along with the odd small mark you would expect from a guitar of this age. Nothing here detracts from it at all and there is no significant damage. The photographs deliberately show the finish under bright lighting so you can see exactly what you are buying.

 

It also plays extremely well. The Wide Fat neck profile has that substantial early PRS feel without being cumbersome, while the 25” scale sits nicely between traditional Fender and Gibson territory.

The electronics are deliberately simple, with one volume, one tone and a three-way selector. The twin PRS humbuckers give it a broad usable range, from warm cleans and blues tones through to big crunchy rhythm sounds and plenty of gain when pushed.

 

There’s something particularly appealing about these earlier Korean SE guitars now. They came from an era when the SE range was far smaller than it is today, and examples this attractive and this well preserved are becoming much harder to find.

 

At £449, this is a superb way into an older PRS Singlecut and a lot of guitar for the money.
