2015 Fender David Lozeau Blue Dragon Stratocaster~ Mexican Strat~ Limited 1/500

2015 Fender David Lozeau Blue Dragon Stratocaster – Limited Edition – 1 of 500 Worldwide 🐉

One of Just 500 Produced Worldwide – Fender’s David Lozeau Artist Series

A particularly special Fender Stratocaster, combining one of the world’s most recognisable electric guitar designs with the extraordinary artwork of American artist David Lozeau.

Released in 2015, the Blue Dragon was limited to just 500 examples worldwide, making this a genuinely collectible Fender with a fascinating story behind it.

The David Lozeau Stratocasters were unveiled at the 2015 NAMM Show as part of an exclusive collaboration between Fender and the acclaimed artist. Four original designs were introduced, each with its own distinctive artwork, and the Blue Dragon remains one of the most visually impressive of the collection.

Lozeau’s artistic style draws inspiration from tattoo culture, Japanese mythology, Day of the Dead imagery and traditional illustration. For the Blue Dragon, he created an elaborate, flowing dragon design that wraps around the guitar’s body, combining bold black artwork with an extraordinary electric blue finish.

The detail is remarkable. The dragon’s scales, claws and flowing features cover both the front and rear of the body, while the rich blue background has an almost textured appearance beneath the gloss finish. The design changes character as the light catches it, making this a guitar that looks just as impressive displayed as it does on stage.

Another lovely detail is the original engraved David Lozeau neck plate, featuring the artist’s distinctive skull artwork and signature. It’s a finishing touch that reinforces the individuality of this special edition.

Unlike an aftermarket graphic or customised Stratocaster, this was an official Fender production model, designed and released as part of the company’s artist collaboration.

Classic Fender Stratocaster – Beneath the Artwork

While the artwork is undoubtedly the first thing that catches your attention, beneath it sits the familiar, versatile foundation of a Fender Standard Stratocaster.

Manufactured in Mexico, it features an alder body paired with a maple neck and maple fingerboard. The Modern C neck profile provides the comfortable feel that has made Fender Strats a favourite for generations of guitarists.

Three original Fender Standard single-coil pickups offer the familiar range of Stratocaster tones, from bright, articulate bridge sounds to rounded neck pickup warmth and the unmistakable character of the in-between positions.

A vintage-style synchronised tremolo, 21 medium-jumbo frets and traditional five-way pickup switching complete the specification.

It’s an instrument that offers genuine Fender playability and versatility alongside an appearance that very few other Stratocasters can match.

Condition

This example presents very well overall, with the wonderful Blue Dragon artwork remaining the clear highlight.

There are some cosmetic imperfections consistent with age and use, which we’ve taken care to photograph in detail.

Most notably, there is an area of chipped blue paint and finish damage along the lower edge of the body, visible in our close-up photographs. This is cosmetic rather than a repair that has been concealed, and the damage appears considerably more pronounced under direct lighting and close-up photography than it does during normal viewing.

There is also a small chip around the neck pocket, together with minor handling marks, light scratches and general playwear.

We’ve included detailed photographs of the affected areas so there are no surprises. The finish still presents beautifully, and the guitar retains enormous visual appeal.

Importantly, the original pickups, artwork and distinctive engraved neck plate are all present.

With only 500 examples of this design manufactured worldwide, finding one of these guitars is becoming an increasingly interesting prospect for Fender enthusiasts, collectors and players looking for something different.
