Gibson Les Paul Standard 2015 100th Anniversary Heritage Cherry Sunburst Candy
✨ Stunning 2015 Centenary Model | AA Flame Maple | Burstbucker Pro | Original Gold Case | G-Force System Included ✨
This is a very special Les Paul.
Made in 2015 to celebrate what would have been Les Paul’s 100th birthday, this Les Paul Standard comes from one of the most distinctive years in Gibson’s modern history and is finished in the absolutely stunning Heritage Cherry Sunburst Candy.
The photographs give you an idea, but they genuinely struggle to capture what this finish does in person.
The 2015 Candy finishes used a special translucent high-gloss finish with metallic pearl/fleck suspended within the colour, so as the guitar moves under natural light or stage lighting the top seems to change constantly. The flame maple moves underneath it, while the metallic element catches the light across both the yellow centre and cherry outer burst. It is a spectacular finish and considerably more striking in person.
Underneath that finish is a beautifully figured AA-grade two-piece maple top, paired with an ultra-low-density mahogany body and Gibson’s Modern Weight Relief.
And being a 2015 Centenary model, there are several appointments that immediately distinguish it from a regular Les Paul Standard, including the gold “Les Paul 100” headstock signature and the commemorative Les Paul hologram.
This was also Gibson’s particularly feature-packed version of the Standard, with an asymmetrical SlimTaper neck, compound-radius rosewood fingerboard, adjustable zero-fret nut, titanium bridge saddles and an exceptionally versatile Burstbucker Pro electronics package.
The Sound
At its heart, it is still everything you’d want a Les Paul Standard to be.
A pair of Gibson Burstbucker Pro humbuckers with Alnico V magnets give it that familiar combination of warmth, bite and harmonic richness.
The neck pickup has the thick, creamy character that makes a great Les Paul so addictive, while the bridge has plenty of cut and attack for rock rhythm and lead work.
But this particular generation of Standard goes considerably further.
All four controls incorporate push/pull switching:
* Neck Volume: coil split
* Bridge Volume: coil split
* Neck Tone: phase reverse when both pickups are selected
* Bridge Tone: bridge pickup bypass
That means you can move from full humbucker sounds into brighter split-coil tones, out-of-phase textures and a direct bridge-pickup signal without adding switches all over the guitar.
It is one of the most versatile factory Les Paul Standards Gibson produced.
Neck & Playability
The one-piece mahogany neck uses Gibson’s SlimTaper Asymmetrical profile.
It is intentionally fuller beneath the bass strings while becoming slightly slimmer towards the treble side, giving it a reassuring feel without becoming cumbersome.
The rosewood fingerboard is particularly substantial and uses Gibson’s 10” to 16” compound radius, becoming progressively flatter as you move up the neck. Chords remain comfortable lower down while bends and lead playing feel effortless further up the board.
Other details include:
* 24.75” scale length
* 22 frets
* Cream fingerboard binding
* Mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays
* Adjustable zero-fret nut
* Wider 2015 fingerboard specification
It plays superbly.
Condition
For an 11-year-old guitar, this remains a very attractive example.
There are a handful of small dings and minor marks which we have deliberately photographed under strong lighting so they can be seen clearly. There are also normal light handling and playing marks, some scratches around the headstock area and minor fret wear consistent with use.
Nothing detracts significantly from what is an extremely impressive guitar.
The flame maple top remains the star of the show, and the Candy finish is sensational. Depending on the lighting it can move from a relatively traditional Heritage Cherry Sunburst appearance to an almost glowing metallic gold and red.
It really needs to be seen in person.
Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
Tuner Change & Original G-Force System
The original Gibson G-Force automatic tuning system has been removed and the guitar is currently fitted with conventional Grover-style tuners, which many players will consider the more desirable everyday arrangement.
Importantly, the original Gibson G-Force system is included with the guitar, together with its documentation.
The G-Force charger has unfortunately been misplaced, so this is not included.
That gives the next owner the choice of keeping the guitar as it is or returning it towards its original 2015 specification if desired.
Pickguard
The 2015 Standard originally featured Gibson’s clever removable cream pickguard system, designed to attach to the specially designed pickup surrounds without drilling the traditional pickguard holes into the top.
The original pickguard has unfortunately been misplaced and is therefore not included.
The guitar looks fantastic without it and, importantly, there are no conventional pickguard mounting holes drilled into that beautiful top.
