2016 Gibson SG Special Faded Series~ Worn Brown

 

A superb example of the Gibson SG Special Faded Series in Worn Brown, dating from 2016 and supplied with a quality Gator hard case.

 

This one has had a very easy life. It has been with the same owner from new and has seen only light home use. It presents extremely well for its age, with just a few scratches to the back along with light marks and signs of play, all shown clearly in the photographs.

 

We have given the guitar a full check over, set it up and fitted fresh strings, so it is playing beautifully and ready to go.

 

The Faded Series has always had a great following because it strips the SG back to its essentials. The thin Worn Brown finish lets the grain of the mahogany show through beautifully and gives the guitar a much more natural, played-in feel than the heavier gloss-finished models.

 

At its heart is the classic SG combination of a solid mahogany body and mahogany neck, paired with a rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets. This particular model uses Gibson’s fuller ’50s Rounded neck profile, giving it a substantial but comfortable feel in the hand.

 

Electronics come courtesy of Gibson’s 490R and 490T humbuckers. The 490R neck pickup offers the warmth and fullness associated with classic Gibson tones, while the 490T bridge pickup adds extra bite and upper-mid presence. Together they cover everything from clean blues and classic rock through to heavier driven sounds.

 

Traditional Gibson hardware completes the package, including a Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, while the simple dot-inlaid rosewood fingerboard and black full-face pickguard give the guitar the understated look that suits the Worn Brown finish perfectly.

A very well cared for guitar that has spent its life in private ownership and has seen only minor home use.

 

There are a few scratches to the rear of the body along with light surface marks and signs of age and handling, as pictured. Nothing detracts significantly from the overall appearance and it still presents extremely well.
