Absolutely outrageous in the best possible way.

 

Here we have a Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR E finished in the brilliantly eye-catching Lime Green Metallic. These were serious-spec guitars when new, with an original RRP around £999, and this one is offered at £699.

 

Condition is excellent and very close to mint overall. There are a handful of tiny handling marks if you go looking closely, but nothing that detracts from the guitar at all. The metallic finish looks fantastic in person and changes dramatically depending on the light.

 

This example also appears to have been upgraded with locking tuners, replacing the standard Charvel sealed die-cast machines. The original specification otherwise remains exactly what you would want from a modern San Dimas: Seymour Duncan pickups, ebony fingerboard, compound radius, Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo and that famously fast Charvel neck.

 

It also includes the Floyd Rose tremolo arm.

 

The Sound

 

The pickup combination is one of the strongest parts of this guitar.

 

At the bridge is a Seymour Duncan JB TB-4, paired with a Seymour Duncan ’59 SH-1N in the neck. It is a classic combination for a reason.

 

The JB delivers plenty of output, bite and upper-mid presence for rock and heavier styles, while the ’59 gives you a warmer, more open neck sound that works beautifully for lead work and cleaner tones.

 

There is considerably more versatility here than the simple HH layout might initially suggest too. The volume control features a push/pull coil split, while the no-load tone control effectively removes itself from the circuit when turned fully up, allowing the pickups to deliver their full natural response.

 

Built for Speed

 

The bolt-on maple neck has Charvel’s renowned Speed Neck profile, graphite reinforcement rods and a hand-rubbed satin urethane finish to the rear.

 

Combined with the 12”-16” compound-radius ebony fingerboard, rolled edges and 22 jumbo frets, it is an extremely quick and comfortable guitar to play.

 

The compound radius keeps things comfortable lower down the neck for chords while becoming progressively flatter as you move higher, ideal for bends and faster lead work.

 

Floyd Rose 1000 Series

 

A Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo takes care of the more dramatic side of things.

 

From subtle vibrato through to full dive bombs, the locking system is designed to keep everything stable while giving you the freedom associated with a full floating Floyd.

Condition

 

This is an excellent, near-mint example.

 

There are only a few tiny handling marks and very light signs of use. Nothing serious, and certainly nothing that takes away from what is an exceptionally striking guitar.
