2024 Epiphone Dave Grohl DG-335 Inspired by Gibson Custom, Pelham Blue + Hard Case

One of the most eagerly awaited Epiphone signature guitars in years, and it isn’t difficult to see why.

 

The Dave Grohl DG-335 takes the unmistakable shape and character of Grohl’s incredibly sought-after Gibson signature model and brings it into the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom range, complete with Gibson USA Burstbucker pickups, premium electronics and the distinctive combination of ES-335 and Trini Lopez styling.

 

Finished in the signature Pelham Blue, this 2024 example is a stunning guitar and is presented in mint overall condition.

 

Cosmetically, the guitar itself is exceptionally clean. The only point worth mentioning is some tarnishing to the nickel hardware, particularly around the pickups and bridge area. We have photographed this closely so there are no surprises. Aside from this, the guitar presents beautifully.

 

It is supplied with its original Epiphone Dave Grohl fitted hardshell case and Epiphone paperwork.

 

Dave Grohl DG-335

 

Dave Grohl has been associated with the Gibson DG-335 for years, but original Gibson signature examples have become both difficult to find and extremely expensive.

 

For this model, Epiphone partnered with Gibson Custom to recreate the features that make Grohl’s guitar instantly recognisable.

 

The semi-hollow body combines the familiar proportions of an ES-335 with the striking diamond-shaped sound holes and Firebird-style headstock inspired by the Trini Lopez.

 

And importantly, Epiphone didn’t economise on the pickups.

 

You get genuine Gibson USA Burstbuckers, with a Burstbucker 2 in the neck and hotter Burstbucker 3 at the bridge.

The pickup combination is a major part of the appeal of the DG-335.

It gives the guitar everything from warm, articulate semi-hollow tones through to the huge driven rock sound you’d expect from a Dave Grohl signature model.

The maple centre block gives the guitar much greater resistance to feedback than a fully hollow instrument while retaining the openness and resonance associated with a semi-hollow design.

The Firebird-style headstock is one of the model’s defining visual features and is fitted with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners.

 

Dave Grohl’s signature reproduction also appears on the rear of the headstock.

Condition

 

This is a 2024 model in mint overall condition.

 

The finish, neck and general cosmetics are extremely clean.

 

There is, however, some visible tarnishing to the nickel hardware, including areas around the pickups and bridge. This has been deliberately photographed closely and forms part of the guitar’s condition description.

 

Apart from the hardware tarnishing, there is very little to criticise.
