This is it. Our final Vintage 30th Anniversary V72 Thinline in Boulevard Black. Once this one has gone, that’s our allocation finished.

 

Released as part of Vintage’s very limited 30th Anniversary Series, this V72 takes an already brilliantly versatile semi-hollow design and gives it a seriously special anniversary treatment. Boulevard Black, green pearloid scratchplate, cream binding and chrome hardware make this one of the best-looking V72s we’ve had through the shop.

 

The chambered American alder body and F-hole give it a little more warmth, resonance and acoustic character than a conventional solid-body guitar, while still retaining the snap, attack and clarity you expect from this style of instrument.

 

The pickup combination is a big part of what makes this guitar so useful. There’s a Wilkinson Platinum Series soapbar at the neck for warmer, fuller tones and a double-coil bridge pickup for extra punch and bite. Controlled through a simple master volume, master tone and three-way selector, it covers a huge amount of ground without overcomplicating things.

 

The hard rock maple neck has Vintage’s comfortable Soft C profile, paired with a maple fingerboard, 22 medium frets and a 10” radius. Add the Wilkinson hardware, Graphtech nut and CTS pots and the specification is seriously impressive for the money.

 

It’ll happily move between country, blues, indie, rock, jazz and cleaner rhythm work, and the chambered construction keeps it comfortable while giving it a character all of its own.
