A fantastic USA-built Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 4H finished in stunning Honey Burst, complete with its original Music Man hard case and featuring the sought-after factory matching headstock.

 

According to the original factory build records, this StingRay was manufactured on 6th July 2000 at the Ernie Ball Music Man factory in San Luis Obispo, California. The matching headstock was a factory option from new and is a feature you don’t often see on StingRays from this era.

 

The StingRay has earned its reputation as one of the most iconic basses ever made. Its powerful Music Man humbucker and active 3-band EQ deliver everything from deep, punchy lows to crisp highs and that unmistakable StingRay attack. Whether you’re playing rock, funk, pop or anything in between, it has the versatility and presence that has made it a favourite of countless professional players.

 

The bass plays great and all electronics function exactly as they should.

 

Condition

 

Overall, this is a very honest example of a 26-year-old USA instrument.

 

There are the expected light marks, small dings and signs of use commensurate with its age, all of which can be seen in the photographs.

 

As is common on many Music Man instruments from this period, there are several lacquer cracks and finish checks. Most notably, there is an area on the rear of the body and a smaller area on the front where the lacquer had lifted and has previously been carefully glued back down to prevent it lifting further.

 

To be completely clear, this is NOT a crack in the wood and is not a structural repair. It is purely within the lacquer finish.

 

None of these affect the playability or functionality of the instrument.
