A lovely, straightforward acoustic from Takamine and a great option for anyone wanting a good-quality dreadnought without spending a fortune.

 

This is the Takamine GD11M, an all-mahogany acoustic with a full-size dreadnought body, mahogany neck and laurel fingerboard.

 

The all-mahogany construction gives it a warm, balanced sound with a strong midrange and plenty of body. The dreadnought shape gives it good volume when strummed, but it also responds nicely to lighter playing and fingerpicking.

 

It’s a very comfortable guitar to play and would suit anything from a beginner wanting something better than an entry-level acoustic through to an experienced player looking for a reliable guitar to have around the house, take to rehearsals or gig acoustically.

 

Condition

 

This example is in as-new condition overall.

 

There may be the odd very light handling or play mark from being used, but nothing of any concern. There are no notable dings, chips or scrapes, and the guitar presents extremely well throughout.

 

The natural mahogany finish remains clean and attractive, with the grain showing beautifully across the top, back and sides.

All-Mahogany Construction

 

The GD11M uses mahogany for the top, back and sides, giving it a warm and slightly woody character compared with the brighter sound of a spruce-topped acoustic.

 

There is plenty of midrange presence, a rounded low end and enough clarity through the top strings to keep chords sounding defined.

 

It is a simple specification, but one that works extremely well.

 

Dreadnought Body

 

The dreadnought remains one of the most versatile acoustic guitar shapes, offering plenty of projection and a full sound without becoming overly specialised towards one playing style.
