ESP LTD EC-401QM See-Thru Black Satin – EMG 81/60 – Mint Condition

This is a seriously impressive EC-401QM, combining the classic single-cut shape with a much more modern, aggressive specification.

 

Finished in See-Thru Black Satin over a beautifully figured quilted maple top, it looks superb in the flesh. Add the full multi-ply binding, ebony fingerboard, block inlays and black nickel hardware and it has a really premium appearance without becoming overdone.

 

This example is in mint overall condition, showing only the lightest handling marks from careful use. There are no significant knocks, chips or areas of heavy wear to mention.

At the heart of the EC-401QM is the proven EMG 81 / EMG 60 active humbucker combination. The EMG 81 at the bridge gives you the tight, articulate attack and high output these pickups are known for, while the EMG 60 in the neck adds a smoother, fuller voice for lead work and cleaner passages.

 

It isn’t limited to heavy music either. The clarity of the EMGs, combined with the mahogany construction and ebony fingerboard, makes this an extremely precise and responsive guitar.

 

The three-piece mahogany neck uses ESP’s Thin U profile, paired with an ebony fingerboard and 24 extra-jumbo frets. It’s quick, comfortable and gives excellent access right to the top of the neck.

 

The satin finish continues across the rear of the body and neck, giving the guitar a particularly smooth feel in the hand.

There are only very light handling marks visible under close inspection, entirely consistent with careful use. Overall we would comfortably describe it as being in mint condition.
