A seriously unusual late-90s Epiphone, and one of those guitars that immediately grabs your attention.

 

This is a 1997 Epiphone Les Paul Limited Edition, made in Korea and finished in a stunning Blue Sparkle. The finish is the big talking point here. It has that deep metallic sparkle that really comes alive under the light, and combined with the cream plastics and chrome hardware it gives the guitar a fantastic vintage custom look.

 

The other standout feature is the Epiphone-branded Bigsby-style vibrato tailpiece, giving this already unusual Les Paul even more character. It is a rare combination and certainly not something we come across often.

 

This guitar dates from the Korean Epiphone era that has built a strong following over the years, with many players actively seeking out these older instruments for their feel, construction and character.

 

At around 9lb 9.9oz, it has that reassuringly substantial Les Paul feel without being excessively heavy.

 

Tonally, the twin humbuckers deliver everything you would expect from a traditional Les Paul-style setup, with plenty of warmth, body and sustain, while the vibrato adds another dimension for subtle pitch movement and expressive playing.

Condition

 

Very good used condition for a guitar that is now nearly 30 years old.

 

The front presents extremely well and the Blue Sparkle finish still looks fantastic.

 

There are various signs of age and use throughout, including surface scratches, handling marks and play wear. The rear of the body shows the most obvious scratching and wear, as shown clearly in the photographs.

 

There are no major structural issues that we can see, and overall this remains a very clean and attractive example for its age.
