SX SST62+ – Timeless Styling, Outstanding Value for Money

Few electric guitar designs are as recognisable or as versatile as the classic ST-style guitar, and the SX SST62+ in vintage white captures that timeless appeal beautifully.

With its rich sunburst finish, traditional double-cutaway body, contrasting three-ply pickguard and attractive maple neck, the SST62+ takes inspiration from one of the most influential electric guitar designs ever created.

But this guitar has considerably more to offer than its looks.

SX has built an excellent reputation for producing affordable instruments that consistently exceed expectations, combining quality materials, thoughtful construction and impressive attention to detail at remarkably accessible prices.

We’ve been especially impressed with the quality of these guitars at Chordplay. They’re an excellent choice for beginners who want a capable, comfortable instrument from the outset, but they’re equally appealing to more experienced players looking for an affordable second guitar.

With its solid basswood body, selected Canadian maple neck, rosewood-style fingerboard and three single-coil pickups, the SST62+ offers a fantastic introduction to the distinctive sounds of a traditional ST-style electric guitar.

Solid Basswood Body – Comfortable & Versatile

The SX SST62+ features a solid basswood body, offering a comfortable playing weight and balanced tonal response.

Basswood is a well-established choice for electric guitar construction, providing an even, versatile character that works especially well with single-coil pickups.

The familiar contoured double-cutaway body shape makes the guitar comfortable to hold, whether sitting down for practice or playing standing up with a strap.

The cutaways also allow easier access to the upper frets, giving developing guitarists the freedom to explore more advanced playing techniques as their confidence grows.

Canadian Maple Neck & Fingerboard

The selected Canadian maple neck provides a comfortable and reassuring feel in the hand, while the contrasting darker fingerboard gives the guitar a classic appearance.

The 21-fret fingerboard features traditional dot position markers, making it easy for new players to navigate the neck.

With a standard 648mm scale length and 42mm synthetic bone nut, the SST62+ offers familiar string spacing and playing characteristics.

A two-way adjustable truss rod allows for neck relief adjustments when required, while the chrome die-cast tuners provide straightforward tuning control.

Factory-fitted D’Addario strings are another welcome detail, particularly on a guitar in this price range.

Three Single-Coil Pickups – Explore a World of Guitar Sounds

One of the main attractions of the SST62+ is its classic SSS pickup configuration.

Three single-coil pickups provide the clear, articulate and expressive electric guitar sounds associated with countless well-known recordings.

The bridge pickup offers bright, cutting tones that work particularly well for punchy rhythm playing and lead guitar.

The middle pickup provides an alternative tonal character, while the neck pickup produces warmer, smoother sounds that are ideal for blues, clean melodies and expressive playing.

With a pickup selector, master volume and tone controls, players can experiment with different sounds and begin discovering their own musical style.

Whether you’re interested in classic rock, blues, country, indie, pop or modern guitar music, this is an extremely versatile place to start.

A Brilliant First Electric Guitar

Learning guitar should be enjoyable from the beginning, and choosing an instrument that feels comfortable and responds well can make all the difference.

The SX SST62+ offers a fantastic balance of classic styling, versatile sounds and quality construction, making it an excellent option for beginners and developing players.

Its familiar design and straightforward controls allow new guitarists to concentrate on learning, while the three-pickup configuration provides plenty of opportunities to explore different sounds as their playing develops.

It’s also a very appealing choice for more experienced guitarists looking for an affordable practice instrument or a second electric guitar.

At £149.99, the SST62+ represents excellent value for money.
