Classic Telecaster Style – Outstanding Value for Money

There’s a reason the classic Telecaster-style electric guitar has remained a favourite among players for generations. Its instantly recognisable shape, straightforward controls and wonderfully versatile sound make it one of the most approachable electric guitar designs ever created.

The SX STL50+ in Butterscotch Blonde captures that timeless appeal beautifully, offering traditional styling, impressive build quality and excellent playability at a price that makes getting started on electric guitar more affordable than ever.

With its glossy Butterscotch Blonde body, white pickguard, tinted maple neck and gleaming chrome hardware, this guitar looks fantastic. It’s a design that feels equally at home playing blues, country, indie, classic rock or modern guitar music.

But what makes the STL50+ especially appealing is that it offers far more than just attractive looks.

With a solid basswood body, selected Canadian maple neck, two single-coil pickups and quality D’Addario strings, SX has put together an instrument with a surprisingly impressive specification for its price.

We’re delighted to have these guitars available at Chordplay and believe they represent excellent value for anyone looking for an affordable but capable electric guitar.

Solid Basswood Body – Lightweight, Comfortable & Resonant

The STL50+ features a solid basswood body, finished in a beautiful glossy Butterscotch Blonde.

Basswood is widely used in electric guitar construction thanks to its balanced tonal response, comfortable weight and versatility.

It provides a lively, even character that works particularly well with the bright, articulate sound of traditional single-coil pickups.

The familiar TC-style body is comfortable whether playing seated or standing, with a straightforward layout that makes this guitar especially approachable for new players.

Combined with its classic white pickguard and chrome appointments, the result is a beautifully presented instrument that looks considerably more expensive than its modest price suggests.

Canadian Maple Neck & Fingerboard

One of the standout features of the SX STL50+ is its attractive tinted maple neck.

Made from selected Canadian maple, the neck features a comfortable, substantial vintage-inspired profile that recalls the feel of traditional 1950s-style electric guitars.

The matching Canadian maple fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface with 21 frets and classic black dot position markers.

A 648mm scale length delivers familiar electric guitar string tension and response, while the 42mm synthetic bone nut offers comfortable string spacing for both chord work and single-note playing.

The neck also features a two-way adjustable truss rod, allowing setup adjustments to suit different playing preferences.

For a guitar at this price point, it’s a particularly appealing neck specification.

Two Single-Coil Pickups – Classic Telecaster Character

The STL50+ is fitted with a pair of traditional TC-style single-coil pickups.

These provide the clear, articulate and expressive sounds that have made this style of guitar a favourite across so many musical genres.

The bridge pickup delivers the familiar bright attack and definition associated with classic Tele-style guitars, ideal for country picking, punchy rhythm work and cutting lead sounds.

The neck pickup offers a warmer, rounder voice that’s equally suited to blues, clean chords and smooth melodic playing.

A three-way selector switch allows players to choose either pickup individually or combine both together for additional tonal versatility.

With just one volume control and one tone control, the layout is refreshingly straightforward, allowing beginners to concentrate on playing while still offering plenty of tonal possibilities as their skills develop.

Whether plugged into a clean amplifier or used with overdrive and distortion, the STL50+ is a wonderfully versatile starting point.

Traditional Hardware & Quality Appointments

The SX STL50+ features a classic chrome bridge with individual saddles, providing familiar adjustment options for string height and intonation.

Chrome die-cast tuning machines offer practical tuning adjustment, while the factory-fitted D’Addario strings are a welcome touch at this price point.

The white pickguard, chrome control plate and vintage-inspired tinted maple neck complete the traditional appearance.

It’s a simple, time-tested formula, executed particularly well for an affordable electric guitar.

An Excellent First Electric Guitar

Finding the right first guitar makes an enormous difference to a new player’s experience.

The SX STL50+ offers an appealing combination of comfortable playability, versatile sounds and quality construction without requiring a large initial investment.

Its straightforward controls make it easy to understand, while the familiar Tele-style layout gives developing guitarists an instrument that remains enjoyable as their playing progresses.

It’s equally attractive as an affordable second guitar, a backup instrument or a platform for players who enjoy experimenting with different pickups and hardware.

And because every guitar includes an SX EB400/M gig bag, you can transport and store it conveniently from day one.
