✨ Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster SH 2007 Metallic Red + Fender Noiseless Upgrades ✨

 

Here’s a much rarer Squier than the usual run of Vintage Modified models, and one that has had a very worthwhile list of upgrades over the years.

 

This is a 2007 Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster SH, made in India and finished in a lovely Metallic Red. It is a bright, sparkly finish in person and still has plenty of gloss and depth to it.

 

These early Indian-made Vintage Modified models do not appear very often now, and the original specification was already quite unusual, with an Indian red cedar body, maple neck and an S/H pickup layout.

 

This one has moved quite a long way beyond the original spec though.

 

The pickups have been replaced with Fender Noiseless pickups, and the electronics and hardware have also had some useful upgrades, including a Fender three-saddle bridge plate with compensated brass saddles, 4-way Oak Grigsby switch, CTS pots, Orange Drop capacitor, upgraded jack plate and Pure Tone output jack.

 

The pickguard also appears to have been changed from the original specification.

 

Taken together, there is a fair amount of money in the upgrades alone, and more importantly they have resulted in a Telecaster that plays and sounds exceptionally well.

 

At £399, we think this makes a lot of sense for somebody wanting something a little less common than the usual Squier Tele, with much of the upgrading already done.

 

Fender Noiseless Pickup Upgrade

 

The original Duncan Designed pickup arrangement has been replaced with a pair of Fender Noiseless pickups.

 

That gives the guitar a much more familiar Telecaster character while reducing the background hum associated with conventional single coils.

 

The bridge pickup still has plenty of Tele bite and attack, while the neck pickup gives the warmer, rounder side of the instrument.

 

The upgraded 4-way Oak Grigsby selector also adds another useful option beyond the normal three Tele positions, giving this guitar a broader range than a standard Telecaster setup.

 

Upgraded Electronics & Hardware

 

Quite a bit has been changed underneath the surface too.

 

The electronics now include CTS pots and an Orange Drop capacitor, together with a Pure Tone output jack and upgraded jack plate.

 

The original six-saddle bridge has also gone, replaced with a Fender three-saddle Tele bridge fitted with compensated brass saddles.

 

It is a more traditional Telecaster arrangement and the compensated saddles help retain the feel and tone of the classic three-barrel design while improving intonation.

 

These are all sensible, usable upgrades rather than changes made simply for appearance.

 

Condition

 

This is an almost 20-year-old guitar that has clearly been played, so there are cosmetic signs of use, but it still presents very nicely overall.

 

The Metallic Red finish remains bright, glossy and attractive, particularly across the main front and rear surfaces.

 

The most noticeable wear is around the lower and bottom edges of the body, where there are several chips through the finish. These are clearly shown in our close-up photographs.

 

There are also a few smaller edge knocks and marks elsewhere around the body.

 

Across the front and back there is normal playwear, including light scratches, small surface marks and minor blemishes, along with a small isolated mark/ding visible on the rear.

 

None of this is unusual for a guitar of this age, but there is enough wear that we would rather photograph and describe it clearly than simply call it excellent.

 

The neck and maple fingerboard remain presentable, with the expected signs of use, and the frets appear to retain plenty of life.

 

Overall, it looks like a guitar that has been used and enjoyed rather than abused. The metallic finish still has plenty of shine and the cosmetic wear does not detract greatly from what is a very appealing older Vintage Modified Tele.
